Just give me the time and done.

That was the declaration from accused Barry Christopher Cumberbatch when he appeared on a serious bodily harm charge in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The 52-year-old labourer, of Deighton Road, St Michael, was charged that with intent to maim, disfigure or disable Dominique Griffith, he caused her serious bodily harm on August 11.

Prosecutor Sergeant Randolph Boyce objected to bail, saying the prosecution had “serious concerns in this matter”.

He pointed to the nature and seriousness of the offence, though admitting the complainant was not hospitalised, as she was treated and discharged.

Boyce added Cumberbatch and the complainant lived in close proximity and he feared if the accused was released, he would interfere with the witness.

When called upon to say why he should be granted bail, the accused told Acting Magistrate Bernadeth John: “The ball is in your court. Just give me the time and done.”

However, Acting Magistrate John explained to Cumberbatch that she could not sentence him as the matter had to go before judge and jury.

The accused then told the court he lived in Deighton Road, while the complainant lived in Harts Gap.

“I ain’t gine ‘round she again,” he said.

He was remanded to Dodds Prison and will return to court on October 6.
