“It’s like you did not learn.”

With these words, Justice Christopher Birch sentenced Don Sylvester Browne to 12 years in prison for his third illegal firearm when he appeared in the No. 5A Supreme Court yesterday.

Browne, of Golden Ridge Village, St George, was back in court after he had pleaded guilty earlier in the Session of the Continuous Sittings to having a .45 ACP semi-automatic pistol and seven rounds of ammunition on December 12, 2020.

He was represented by Senior Counsel Angella Mitchell-Gittens, while Principal State Counsel Oliver Thomas appeared for the State.

“I am tired telling accused persons in relation to firearms that they should know better,” Justice Birch said. “We now have a society where people settle their differences by deadly force.”  (HLE)
