The centre of Tropical Storm Tammy will pass north of Barbados today which will maintain swell heights peaking near 3.5m in open water.
As a result, the small craft warning has been extended until 6 p.m. today, after which, there will be a small craft advisory from that time through 6 a.m. Saturday.
The high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday.
Operation of smaller vessels can be difficult at times due to large swells.
Possible beach erosion and rip currents along some coastal areas.
A small-craft warning is issued when sustained winds of 25 to 33 knots and/or sea swells greater than 3 metres (greater than 10 feet) are affecting or forecast to affect the marine area within the next 48 hours.
A high-surf advisory is issued when breaking wave action poses a threat to life and property within the surf zone within the next 48 hours.
A small-craft advisory is issued when sustained winds of 20 to 25 knots and/or sea swells of 2.5 metres to 3.0 metres (8 to 10 feet) are affecting or forecast to affect the marine area within the next 48 hours.
