Lady Tridents hold Bermuda

It was a game of two halves.

The often-used football cliché was most appropriate for the Barbados Lady Tridents as they staged a spirited second-half comeback to claim a 1-1 draw with Bermuda’s Lady Warriors in Friday night’s group stage match of their 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup qualifying campaign at the Wildey Turf.

The Bajans started the game in the ascendency but were soon pegged back by the game’s opening goal from Bermuda’s Aaliyah Nolan midway through the first half.

The hosts struggled to manufacture enough clear chances to score amidst a barrage of Bermudan pressure but a tactical switch at half-time and a more aggressive approach in the second half yielded Adrienne Forde’s equaliser in the 47th minute.

Both teams came close to a possible winning goal but settled for the draw as Bermuda conceded and dropped points for the first time in the competition. (NM)
