Barbados Pride crashed out of the Regional Super50 Cup when they were blown away by the Leeward Islands Hurricanes by a massive margin of 155 runs in yesterday’s day-night semi-final at the Brian Lara Academy Ground in Trinidad and Tobago.

After half-centuries by wicketkeeper/batsman Jahmar Hamilton  (76), Barbadian all-rounder Justin Greaves (62) and leg-spinner Hayden Walsh (57) carried the Hurricanes to a challenging 290 in 49.4 overs, captain and West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph (three for 30) led his team to victory with a three-wicket new-ball burst.

Joseph ripped the heart out of the Pride’s batting by shattering the stumps of Kyle Mayers when the left-hander was on four, before having Zachary MaCaskie caught behind for six and then taking the prized scalp of his opposite number Shai Hope for 19.

Barbados Pride never recovered and folded meekly for a paltry 135 in 30.2 overs, with Roston Chase making the top score of 35 off 36 balls with three fours and a six. No other batsman passed 20, with recalled West Indies Test captain Kraigg Brathwaite struggling for 11 off 34 balls while Shamarh Brooks made only 13. (EZS)
