The Fair Trading Commission (FTC) will not be changing its electricity rate decision issued in February.

Earlier today the Commission dismissed a Barbados Light & Power Company Limited’s (BL&P) motion for the decision to be reviewed and varied.

The ruling was delivered at the FTC’s Green Hill, St. Michael headquarters by deputy chairman Dr.Donley Carrington, who headed the panel hearing the BL&P rate review application.

He said that the interim electricity rate increase which Barbadians have been paying for the past year would continue for now, and that the issue of refunds, if any, would be issued in the final order on the substantive rate application.

A decision on the final electricity rates Barbadians will have to pay is expected before the end of the year.

The FTC now has to formally review BL&P’s compliance filing before then, including any amendments that are required. (SC)
