The Christ Church Foundation School Beacons will defend the National Sports Council’s Under-19 Volleyball League title in the final slated for tomorrow at the Wildey Gymnasium.

The Beacons flickered and almost went out in their bid to get past Queen’s College in a rescheduled battle on Friday at Church Hill after the semifinal match was delayed as the two teams had players taking part in a netball contest.

Ironically, the Beacons advanced to the netball semis while QC were eliminated the previous day.

In a keen contest which attracted a large crowd of supporting students, teachers and parents, CCFS won the game in an unbelievable manner 24-26, 28-26, 15-12 to meet Harrison College in the finals.

QC looked the better team throughout with their passing and ball control although each team tried to outdo the other with serving errors. (KB)
