An elderly man sustained burns and minor injuries and had to be taken to the hospital after his home was engulfed in flames earlier today.

A neighbour at St Stephen’s, Black Rock, St Michael, George Grandison, who spoke with Nation News, said he knew the man as ‘Pollard’. He discovered him lying on the sidewalk as the house burned.

Grandison said he grabbed his hose to help extinguish the fire after the alarm was raised by another neighbour. He said Pollard had not long returned home after being hospitalised.

The Barbados Fire Service responded to the 8:43 a.m. report with nine officers from the Bridgetown Port and Bridgetown Fire Stations.
