The Barbadian tennis squad is making its final preparations to face Jamaica in their own backyard in Group Two of the Davis Cup which commences on February 3.

Barbados’ number one ranked male player Darian King will once again lead by wisdom and experience in the squad captained by Damien Applewhaite.

Although the final team has not been chosen from the current training squad, Kaipo Marshall, Xavier Lawrence and Stephen Slocombe, who are ranked at numbers two, three, and four respectively will fancy their chances at selection.

The experienced Haydn Lewis, an integral part of past Davis Cup teams, will also be vying for a spot on the team to Jamaica.

Both Barbados and Jamaica will view the matchup with utmost significance as they both need victory to solidify their places in group two. A loss for either team would see them relegated to group three. (DG)
