Kingstown, St Vincent –  A small airplane crashed off the coast of Bequia on Thursday, shortly after departing from the northern Grenadines island sometime after noon local time.

Initial reports indicate that five people were on board when the aircraft plunged into the sea.

Videos circulated on social media showed an object plunging into the sea and someone shouting, “… the plane crashed! call the coast Guard”.

A national security source told the Caribbean News Agency (CANA) that the relevant agencies have been informed and a rescue plan has activated. (CMC)
