The Barbados Tourism Product Authority (BTPA) will host a town hall meeting to engage stakeholders on the proposed Tourist Accommodation Bill.

It will take place on Friday, January 19, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St Michael, at 6:30 p.m.

The BTPA’s Product Quality Unit currently focuses on regulating the tourist accommodation sector, and under the existing legislation, only hotels, apartments, and guest houses are inspected and licensed by the Unit.

With the proposed Tourist Accommodation Bill, all types of tourist accommodation on the island will be included to ensure that they conform to national standards. Once finalised, these regulations will strengthen the current quality assurance standards through necessary improvements to the licensing process to match the evolving demands of the sector.

The proposed regulations will also ensure an accurate tourist accommodation room count for marketing the destination.

The Barbados Tourism Product Authority is encouraging stakeholders to come out and hear the presentation on the proposed Tourist Accommodation Bill. (PR/SAT)
