Settlers are the champions of the BIM 10 Cricket tournament for a second successive year with Kevin Stoute leading the way with a brilliant half-century that earned him the Man Of The Match award.

Yesterday at the Desmond Haynes Oval, the winners of the inaugural competition in 2022 easily turned back the challenge of Voyagers, whom they routed by ten wickets with 16 balls to spare, in the 2023/24 final.

Stoute (66 not out) dedicated the win to his late father and musical icon Richard Stoute, who played much of his cricket at the Desmond Haynes Oval, formerly Carlton.

“This means so much to me. I didn’t get many runs on his birthday (January 8) so I was keen to make a mark on such a grand stage as the final. I know dad would have been proud,’’ said Kevin, who wore a gold chain given to him by his father, who passed away in November at the age of 77. (WH)
