Tripple killer Ramario Antonio Roach will be back in court next month when submissions on sentence will be heard in the No. 4 Supreme Court.

Roach, of Ocean Breeze, River Bay, St Lucy, had pleaded guilty to unlawfully killing [manslaughter] Tyrone Austin on December 18, 2018; his mother Joann Roach between January 18 and 21, 2019, and university lecturer Sarah Sutrina between January 20 and 22, 2019.

He was originally arraigned with murdering them on the same dates but the State had accepted manslaughter by reason of Roach’s diminished responsibility.

He was represented by attorney Kyle Walkes, while Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale, SC, as well as State Counsel Maya Kellman, Treann Knight and Paul Prescod appeared for the prosecution.

Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell adjourned the matters until February 8.

Seale had told the court Roach suffered from schizophrenia which was caused by a genetic pre-disposition and fuelled by drug abuse.

Went to River Bay

Kellman, who outlined the facts in relation to the killing of Joann Roach, said Roach went to River Bay with her. They both walked into the water course where he struck her several times with a rock and then sliced her throat from the right side to the front. He then struck her head repeated until he had severed it from the woman’s body.

The body was discovered days later in a decomposed state.

When he was interviewed by police, he dictated a statement in which he claimed his father had whispered to him to kill his mother. He added his father took up a rock and hit his mother’s head while he cut her throat.
