Gold Cup fever runs hot

A bumper crowd is expected at the Garrison Savannah for tomorrow’s 41st edition of the Sandy Lane Gold Cup despite yesterday’s late withdrawal of Brilliant News, one of the two horses which owner Sir David Seale had entered for the marquee race. 

President of the Barbados Turf Club (BTC), David Murray, made the revelation yesterday while speaking to Saturday Sport.

“I expect it to be crowded beyond capacity,” he said while reporting high ticket sales with a “sold out” Grand Stand and all the private boxes taken.

“We expected it to be crowded for sure,” added Murray.
