City MP in hot seat

A war of words broke out yesterday between the two men who have been waging a battle for peace.

Corey Lane, Minister of State in the Attorney General’s Office with responsibility for Crime Prevention, who engineered the National Peace Programme, and Winston “Iston Bull” Branch, a former block leader who brokered the peace deal between gang leaders last year, went at each other on Starcom Network’s radio call-in programme Down To Brass Tacks.

Branch, a member of the Chapman Lane community in The City, accused Lane, who is also parliamentary representative for The City of Bridgetown, of being absent and not doing much to further the peace programme.

He called into Brass Tacks to question comments made by Lane at a branch meeting on Sunday evening where Lane charged that The City was not being fully engaged in the plans for the upcoming International Cricket Council Men’s T20 World Cup in June.

  1. Mr. Lane clearly bite off more than he could chew and now he’s choking. He was deceived into a position no one else wanted especially the AG, in regards to crime, now he grappling with the obvious. It’s clear Mr. Lane is in over his head and might very well have unlocked more criminal activities rather than control them especially if he’s working with those who clearly still have the power to make or break the city due to their affiliation with the criminal elements, good luck Mr. Lane it is clear, you need it.
