Searchlight regains control of Facebook page

Kingstown, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines: Interactive Media Limited, publishers of the newspaper Searchlight, announced on Friday that it has regained control of its Facebook page (@Searchlight1).

The newspaper publishing company said it regained control of the page just after midday on March 14, 2024, six weeks after the page was taken over by hackers and less than 24 hours after the company, in a release, described the inaction by Meta, parent company of Facebook, as “callous”.

“We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped or expressed concern over the last six weeks. We are indebted to our media colleagues and followers in St Vincent and the Grenadines and around the region and world, who brought our plight to the attention of the world, and ultimately the right people at Meta,” said Corletha Ollivierre, the newspaper’s editor.
