GENERAL SECRETARY of Unity Workers’ Union (UWU), Caswell Franklyn, is giving the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) a bit more time before he and his members step up industrial action.

Franklyn, who has been fighting to have UWU recognised by BRA, staged three forms of protests over the past two months aimed at putting pressure on the State agency. Last month, he gave BRA until March 16 or face more industrial action.

“The staff proposed to take further industrial action. I am just waiting before I authorise it because if the union does not authorise it, it is people walking off the job without permission and that is an offence for which you can be dismissed,” he said. (SAT)
