Worker dies after fall

A 50-year-old Guyanese national fell to his death while working on a construction site this morning. Police said the incident occurred at Apes Hill, St James about 8:20a.m.

It was reported that two men fell from a 30-40 foot high scaffolding while doing construction work on a building located at lot C4 Apes Hill. The 51-year-old man, who is a resident of Barbados fell onto a piece of steel and was impaled. He died on the spot. The other worker, a 50-year-old man, was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Andell McGarell 50 years of 1st Avenue, Spring Garden, St. Michael.

    And a speedy recovery to the gentleman in the hospital!
