The Edgewater Project saga is still at an impasse.

Community activist and St Joseph resident Victor Lewis spearheaded a motorcade on Sunday aimed at informing the public what was happening at the Tenby, Joe’s River, St Joseph site, where construction has been stalled following a court injunction last year.

“There have been quite a lot of proposals for us to review. The last one came out three to four weeks ago but it is the worst one yet so we’ve not agreed to it. You can’t be asking all the people to enter Joe’s River on the seaward side of the bridge because when you try to get back to the landward side to do any recreational activities, you got to pass over some very big boulders as well as a hole where people have drowned before,” he said.

In March last year, construction associated with the transformation of the previously dilapidated Edgewater Hotel into a world-class beach house and villa raised the ire of residents as the plans included two concrete columns on either side of Joe’s River Bridge, which would impede access to the gully and the “Teacup and Saucer” areas. The project is being spearheaded by Ullswater Investments Limited, which maintains it was never its intention to exclude locals.
