T20 World Cup trophy in Barbados

The countdown to the start of the 2024 the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup continues.

Today marks 50 days until the commencement of the big event and the official World Cup trophy was unveiled in front of the statue of Sir Garfield Sobers at Kensington Oval, Barbados

Among those present were cricket legends Sir Wes Hall and Sherwin Campbell, former ICC Champions Trophy winner Ian Bradshaw and 2016 T-20 World Cup winner Carlos Brathwaite.

The caravan made its way to the heart of The City where many Barbadians joined the party, dancing t the sounds of DJ Diamond.

The next major stop at Heroes Square where stilt men, the cheerleaders, masqueraders and members of the public congregated in front of the giant white inflatable T-20 branded cricket ball. 

Other scheduled stops for the tour included Heroes Square, De Thirsty Lizard bar in Bridgefield, St Thomas; Lemon Arbor, St John; Haymans, St Peter and Bathsheba, St Joseph. At the latter stop, there will be a street party with the surfing community and former West Indies fast bowler Tino Best. (Nation Sports)
