Call for one schools sports body

There should be one umbrella under which secondary school sports are governed in this country.

That is the personal view of Andrew Brathwaite, co-chair of the Barbados Secondary Schools Athletic Championship (BSSAC) as he delivered opening remarks during the annual BSSAC awards ceremony last Saturday evening at Queen’s College School where Combermere School were rewarded for winning both the boys’ and girls’ titles.

As he thanked the athletes and sponsors for their participation and continued support in helping to make the event a success, Brathwaite said BSSAC aims to expand further into other disciplines.

So far, netball has come on board to join athletics and by next school year, they expect to have hockey joining the BSSAC family once everything goes according to plan. (ML)
