Two of the four people who were travelling in a vehicle succumbed to injuries after an early morning accident along Highway 7 in the area of Hastings, Christ Church.

Police say the car was travelling in an easterly direction around 3:30 a.m. when it struck a wall next to the Soco Hotel and then a utility pole.

A female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical doctor, while a male passenger, who was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), succumbed to his injuries.

The driver, a male, and another female passenger were both taken to the QEH by ambulance. Both complained of back and shoulder injuries. An Emergency Medical Technician on the scene described those injuries as non life-threatening.

Motorists traveling along Highway 7 in a southerly direction are asked to divert at Hart’s Gap, and at Dayrells Road in the area of Bubba’s Sports Bar, if going towards The City.

Police from the Hastings/Worthing Station are presently carrying out investigations and anyone who may have witnessed the accident or have any information can call 430-7614/15.  (PR/SAT)
