The Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) yesterday no-balled allegations of possible disrespect to President The Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason during next month’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and of impending industrial action by upset staff members.
In a media statement, BCA’s chief executive officer, Dr Roland Toppin said such claims which contained a WhatsApp message which went viral over the past two days, were unfounded and untrue.
“It has been brought to our attention that a text message is being widely circulated via the WhatsApp medium in which it is alleged, inter alia, that 1) there is impending industrial action being contemplated by the members of staff of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) and 2) it is the BCA’s intention to treat the President of the Republic of Barbados, Her Excellency Dame Sandra Mason, her son and guests in a disrespectful manner during the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in June of this year.
“The BCA wishes to make it absolutely clear that there has been no contemplation of industrial action by the BCA’s staff in the recent past nor is there any threat of the same leading up to, or during, the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup matches which are scheduled to be played in Barbados next month.”
