East Asia ripe for exports

It is time for more businesses in Barbados and the Caribbean to tap into the export potential on offer in East Asia.

Economist Dr Antonio Alleyne says there is scope for leading regional brands, including producers of alcoholic beverages, to focus on potential business and economic opportunities in China, Singapore, Japan and other nations in that part of the world.

“No, businesses in the region are not as competitively driven as they should be,” he said when asked if he thought enough attention is currently being paid to potential business and economic opportunities in Asia.(SC)
