The Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) runway has been closed after a small aircraft had technical challenges landing.

GAIA’s Corporate Communications Specialist Sharlene Browne, confirmed that the landing gear of a small private aircraft appeared to not deploy, however, it landed safely at 10:40 a.m. and the two passengers and pilot are uninjured.

She said the aircraft was inbound from St. Lucia to Barbados and all incoming flights have been redirected.

The runway will remain closed until the Civil Aviation Authority conducts an inspection.
