Multi-talented Barbados Road Tennis Open quarter-finalist Emar Edwards is full of confidence as he prepares for Sunday’s start of the lucrative tournament.

In last year’s tournament, Edwards played exceptionally up to his quarter-final exit against eventual winner Mark “Venom” Griffith, a match which tennis fans felt he could have won had he
kept his foot off the gas when leading the initial stages in each set before succumbing 16-21, 25-23, 21-19.

This year, unlike last year, Edwards has been putting in a lot more groundwork.

“It’s been going excellent actually and I’ve been training hard doing all the necessary things, and of course hard work pays off, so I think I’ll be ready this year and I’ll give it my best shot” Edwards told NATION SPORT. In preparation for the Road Tennis Open some of our players are engaged in the Kilombo Community Road Tennis Tournament where Edwards is now one of the semi-finalists after defeating junior champion Azarie Clarke and one of Barbados’ most successful road tennis players Julian “Michael Jackson” White.
