A group of artistes showed their give-back spirit as they raised money for a worthy cause this week.

Many big names on the Crop Over scene performed at the Hurricane Relief Fundraising event at Copacabana, Bay Street, to raise funds for those affected by Hurricane Beryl in the neighbouring islands.

Promoter Vayne said she was “beyond grateful”.

“I thought it was going to be rained out and we would have to postpone, but all we had was some sprinkles. The Mabel John was named after my grandmother and so, I am happy everyone came through.

“Every manager and artiste I reached out to said yes. None said no. I picked the Tuesday where nothing major was on the calendar even though it is still in the middle of Crop Over. Some had other commitments but still came through.”

She said it took two weeks to pull off the event which saw soca queen Alison Hinds on stage doing Faluma and DJ Ride among others. Jus Jay, Leadpipe and Saddis had the crowd moving with their set list, while Grateful Co called the people to the Centre.

Mole had a good time on stage with Father Philis, Jordan English and Bruce Almightee who decided he didn’t want to be on stage but in the crowd.

Lil Rick, Peter Ram, Faith, Tionne Hernandez, Rhea Dawn, Jus D and 2 Mile Hill had the crowd hyped as patrons were encouraged to make cash donations during the various performances.
