Zachary Carter hammered a whirlwind boundary-studded unbeaten 86, that spurred champions Barbados to a resounding eight-wicket come from behind victory against Trinidad and Tobago yesterday in the CWI Rising Stars two-day Under-17 cricket championship.

Barbados continue to lead the standings with 45.8 points having collected 21.2 points in the match.

Needing 132 for victory from a minimum of 57 overs, Barbados romped to 134 for two in 31.5 overs on the last day of series two.

Playing at the Inshan Ali Park in Trindad and Tobago, the tall lefthanded Carter cracked nine sixes and three fours off 98 balls.

He shared an exciting second-wicket stand of 117 in 28.5 overs, with captain Joshua Dorne. He made 38 off 86 deliveries, including two fours and one six.

However, he fell with 14 runs needed. Micah Greenidge came nine not out. Damarko Wiggins was lbw without scoring off the fourth ball.

Earlier, resuming from 13 without loss in the second innings and leading overall by 38 runs, Trinidad and Tobago were dismissed for 106.

They were reduced to 53 for seven but As Basant with 32 and Aaidan Racha (20) revived the fortunes with a eighth-wicket partnership of 48.

Left-arm pacer Jakeem Pollard sliced through the middle order taking three for 21. Medium-pacer Kevion Newton picked up two for 12.

Dorne claimed the last three wickets in eight balls without conceding a run with his off-breaks.

In the final round starting on Wednesday, Barbados oppose Guyana at Gilbert Park; Trinidad and Tobago meet Windward Islands at NCC and Jamaica clash with Leewards at Inshan Ali Park. (EH)
