ST. JOHN’S, ANTIGUA—Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced that it will hold an election for the position of Vice President on September 20.

This decision follows a recent ruling by the High Court of Guyana concerning the Vice President’s election, resulting in Mr. Azim Bassarath stepping down from the role.

At the close of nominations, Mr. Bassarath was the sole candidate, having received nominations from both the Jamaica Cricket Association and the Leeward Islands Cricket Board.

The nominations were circulated as customary, and every territorial board, which constitutes the shareholders, was adequately notified.

CWI is being guided by its Articles of Association in conducting this election to ensure the process is handled with the highest standards of democratic principles and transparency.

This upcoming election will fill the vacancy in the Office of the Vice President and demonstrates CWI’s ongoing commitment to fair governance. The organization looks forward to completing this transparent electoral process as it continues to promote and develop cricket across the region. (PR)
