Investigations are ongoing into the origins of the blaze which destroyed the bonded warehouse of Builders Value Mart in Reed Street, The City, on Wednesday.

Yesterday, Chief Fire Officer Errol Maynard disclosed that those investigations would be intensified once all traces of fire were fully extinguished from the still smouldering structure.

“When it is cool and safe to enter, the police team, along with the Association of Fire Services, will start that process,” he said.

“Because of the nature of what was burning, you can get some hot spots and you can get some flare-ups sometimes. So the guys are there just cooling down these things to make sure that they don’t become an irritant to the public,” he added.
