Flood Watch in effect overnight

The Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a Flood Watch for the island.

Due to the already saturated environment and additional rainfall expected throughout the night, flooding is possible across the island.

A shearline, aided by a favourable upper-level pattern, will likely continue to trigger heavy to intense showers and thunderstorms overnight. Forecasts predict additional rainfall accumulations between 1 to 2 inches. Given the saturated soils, this rainfall is likely to generate pockets of flooding in various areas.

A Flood Watch is issued when conditions are favourable for flooding within the next 48 hours, though it does not mean that flooding will definitely occur. In this case, the watch applies to the next 12 hours.

This Flood Watch will be updated at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday or sooner if conditions warrant.
