Government has hit the brakes on plans to bring new rules on vehicle tint by next month.
Instead of the October 14 deadline as announced last Thursday by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley during a televised press conference at Ilaro Court, the new date for implementation will now be January 1 next year.
In a media statement late yesterday evening, Attorney General Dale Marshall gave notice of the change, adding that plans have to be put in gear to ensure a smooth roll-out of the new system,
including equipping police officers with as many tint meters as they could find.
It came hours after another statement had been released by the Attorney General’s Office, through the Barbados Government Information Service, in response to the uncertainty over the percentage of allowable tints on vehicles.
Mottley had told Barbadians that the step was being taken by Government to help combat the upsurge in crime and violence, particularly a series of shocking shooting deaths. (BW/PR)
