Kim Holder captured her second Barbados Road Tennis Open crown by coming from a game down to defeat defending champion Sheldene Walrond when the finals climaxed on Sunday night at the Gymnasium at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex in Wildey.

Holder, who clinched the first title in 2022, became the queen of the third edition by beating Walrond 19-21, 21-16, 21-17 to earn another $20 000 pay night in the event, which is sponsored in part by the Nation Publishing Co. Limited.

“I came to win. I know that I have the tennis in me that could beat any of these females,” Holder said.

“I said that I was going to come this year and do it for my boyfriend Ian Cox and good friend Rodney Lashley, who passed away. (KB)
