Sir Henry Forde, a towering figure in Barbadian law and politics and a longtime member of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP), has passed away.

Known for his expertise in constitutional law and his role in shaping the country’s legal foundation, Sir Henry also served as Leader of the Opposition, marking him as a critical figure on both sides of the political aisle.

Throughout his career, Sir Henry held several prominent positions, including Attorney General, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of External Affairs and Home Affairs. A key architect of the 1974 constitutional reform, he played a central role in Barbados’ transition to a republic within the Commonwealth.

His legal acumen and commitment to national development earned him widespread respect.
