The mother of Jacobi Grannum is seeking urgent answers on exactly what happened last Friday evening after police showed up at her son’s shop and he ended up being killed in a police-involved shooting.

Ajamu Boardi, attorney for Joy Ann Grannum, revealed yesterday that he has already written to Attorney General Dale Marshall and Commissioner of Police Richard Boyce on the matter.

On behalf of the mother, the lawyer is demanding from the Attorney General an independent investigation into the shooting “by qualified investigators based outside of Barbados”.

In terms of the Commissioner, they are requesting information and items with respect to the police operation carried out at Odessa McClean Drive, My Lord’s Hill, St Michael, that day.

Boardi said this should include “cameras taken from the deceased’s shop, footage seized from other residents in the area, any search warrants issued, the identity of the masked police who were present, and any logs from the police station which would reveal the type of firearms and amount of ammunition used at the scene”.
