A weather system located east-northeast of Barbados is not likely to pose any threats to the island, says the Barbados Meteorological Services.

The area of low pressure was located about 1154 km or 717 miles away from the island near 16N 49W at 11 a.m.

Although it is expected to track north of Barbados Thursday into Friday and “no direct impacts are likely”, the public is encouraged to monitor official sources for updates over the coming days.

Environmental conditions are marginally conducive to the slow development of the feature later this week. As it nears the island chain light, wind speeds are anticipated Wednesday and Thursday, resulting in warm daytime temperatures with possible isolated localised shower activity into the afternoon.

The next update will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. (PR/SAT)
