PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Two airlines, JetBlue and Spirit, have suspended flights to Haiti amid a fresh spike in gang violence.

Both US airlines cancelled flights to Port-au-Prince from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, though JetBlue has maintained its direct flight from New York City.

Neither airline has publicly stated why the flights were suspended.

According to a report issued earlier this week by the United Nations, more than 10,000 people had been displaced due to attacks in the past week around the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. (CMC)
