Police investigating drowning at Brandons Beach

Police are investigating the suspected drowning of an elderly man whose body was discovered early Saturday morning, near Rascal’s Beach Bar, Brandons Beach, St. Michael.

The Operations Control Room received a report that a beach goer had pulled a body to shore at the mentioned beach and police from the Black Rock Police Station responded.

The deceased has been identified as 73-year-old Gregory O’brian Mayers of Carlton, St. James.

A medical doctor pronounced him dead at the scene and a family member confirmed his identity.

Police are urging anyone with information that could assist to contact the Black Rock Police Station at 417-7500, Police Emergency at 211, Crime Stoppers at 1800-TIPS (8477), or the nearest police station.
