Police investigating fatal hit-and-run

A 64-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run incident early Wednesday morning.

The fatal collision occurred around 1:20 a.m., about 150 meters south of the Clyde Walcott Roundabout along Waterford Boulevard, St. Michael, near Combermere School.

Police received a report of the incident via telephone and responded to the scene.

Ambulance personnel were already present and had examined the individual and found no sign of life.

The victim, identified as Cedric Beckles of Golden Rock, The Pine, St. Michael, was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Police have launched an investigation and are appealing to the public for assistance.

Investigations into the accident are ongoing.
