Barbados Prison Service welcomes new superintendent

The Barbados Prison Service has a new superintendent of Prisons.

He is DeCarlo Payne, a certified jail officer of the American Jail Association and a Justice of the Peace with over 42 years in corrections.

Payne holds a master of business administration with specialisation in human resource management and an executive diploma in management. He comes highly trained in security and prison management locally, regionally and internationally.

The justice of the Peace has been acting in the position of Superintendent of Prisons on several occasions from 2006 and from May 8, 2022 to October 14, 2024.

Speaking on his appointment, Payne said: “I pride myself on maintaining the values instilled in me from young. I look forward to utilising those standards and principles, along with the knowledge, skills and expertise that I possess, to redefine and enhance the management and professional development of the Barbados Prison Service.”

The new Superintendent’s appointment took effect on October 15, 2024. (PR)
