Two road fatalities in St James

Early Saturday morning Barbados recorded a double road fatality.

Police from Holetown Police station responded to the scene of the road traffic collision which was reported about 1.50 am along Bennetts Road, St James.

A statement from Police noted that the collision involved one motor car with at least four occupants. The vehicle was travelling towards Highway 1 when it struck a utility pole head on resulting in two of its  occupants dying.

The deceased – both males ages 41 years and 37 years are yet to be formally identified and their respective families officially notified of their death. Police say they are working to have this done with as a matter of urgency.

Meanwhile, two other occupants – a 24 year old male and a female in her 20s have both gone off to hospital via ambulance for medical treatment. The female suffered serious head injuries and other injuries about her body; while the male had several cuts and abrasions.

The road way has been cordoned as police investigations continue.
