Victims identified in fatal crash

The two men who tragically lost their lives in an early Saturday morning road traffic collision along Bennetts Road, St. James, have been identified.

Police confirmed that the deceased are Ron Kevin Winfield Benn, 41, of Rose Hill, St. Peter, and Antonio Ricardo Bishop, 37, of Alleynedale, St. Lucy.

The incident, which occurred around 1:50 a.m., involved a motor car with at least four occupants. The vehicle was travelling toward Highway 1 when it struck a utility pole head-on, resulting in the deaths of Benn and Bishop.

Two other occupants, a 24-year-old male and a woman in her 20s, were injured and transported to the hospital by ambulance.

The female suffered serious head injuries and multiple injuries to her body, while the male sustained cuts and abrasions.

Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
