Thrilling semis in store today

If the quarter-finals are the gauge then this evening’s semi-finals of the Kirk Humphrey Christmas Road Tennis tournament will set Chelston ablaze.

The determined Andrew Grandison will battle the heavyset Ricardo Grazette and the confident Taurean Alleyne clashes with the dreadlocked Keith “Sky Juice” Greaves in the B class showdowns from 6 p.m.

The A class duels will see Terry “Buh” Nurse facing Anthony “Prince” Haynes before Ashton Blackett calls out Clarence “Jim The Nut Man” Haynes for a spot in the Boxing Day final.

On Sunday night all of the quarter-finals ended in straight sets which did not do justice to the smoking battles. Grandison went after history trying to reach the semi-finals in both the A and B class. Although he took out Tony Forde 21-12, 22-20, Grandison could not get past A class Nurse, losing 24-26, 11-21 in a fiery battle. (KB)
