Barbadian Roland Butcher, celebrated as the first black cricketer to represent England, is set to captivate cricket enthusiasts and history buffs alike with the release of his autobiography in April 2025. This memoir promises an unparalleled glimpse into his trailblazing career and personal journey.

Titled Breaking Barriers: From Barbados to England . . . And Back, the book charts Butcher’s rise from the cricket fields of Barbados to making history on England’s national team in 1980.

Readers will uncover behind-the-scenes stories from his time at Middlesex County Cricket Club, moments of triumph and adversity, and insights into the man beyond the game.

“I hope my story resonates not just with cricket fans but with anyone pursuing their dreams against the odds,” Butcher said. “This is a story about resilience, breaking barriers, and the universal lessons sport teaches us.”

The autobiography will be officially launched at special events in Barbados and Trinidad, followed by a signing tour spanning the United Kingdom, the Caribbean, and cricketing nations such as Australia, India, and South Africa. (EZS)
