PORT OF SPAIN – Police are investigating a suspected arson attack on a home in Arouca, a town in the east–west corridor that claimed the life of a three-year-old, Jareem George.

Police said that the child’s mother,  Geneiel George, had reported that around 11:45 p.m., a man attempted to break into her Christian Avenue Extension, Windy Hill home.

The woman attempted to stop the man from entering but he overpowered her as she fled the home with three of her children to get help from a male relative who lives nearby.

However, on returning to the home, she realised it was on fire and fire officers later discovered the charred remains of the young child.

Police say investigations are continuing as well as the search for the suspect. (CMC)
