Passengers aboard a Caribbean Airlines flight inbound to the Piarco International Airport were instructed to assume to crash position after the pilot declared an emergency.

BW Flight 1451 from Tobago had left Crown Point at 931p.m on Monday.

In a video captured by a passenger aboard the ART-72-600 twin turboprop aircraft, the cabin crew can be heard repeatedly calling on passengers to “brace” meaning to keep their heads down and hands over head as the plane descended into Trinidad.

The cries of children can be heard.

The plane landed safely at around 10.05p.m.

Caribbean Airlines issued a statement overnight, acknowledging the incident and stating that the plane had been taken out of service “to facilitate inspection”.

No reason was given for the emergency landing being declared.

Last Wednesday, a similar aircraft was being inspected by the crew at the ANR Robinson International Airport in Tobago, when it was discovered that one of the wheels on the front landing gear was missing. That plane was taken out of service.
