Earthquake poses no tsunami threat to Barbados

An earthquake off the coast of Honduras earlier tonight poses no tsunami threat to Barbados.

The quake was recorded at 7:23 p.m. Saturday at 17.8N 82.5W, north of Honduras, at a depth of 21 miles.

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) says the earthquake information statement alert level remains at green and the tremor has little or no potential to generate a tsunami.

BMS said was likely to be the only statement issued about the earthquake. (PR/SAT)
