Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced the return of the CG United Women’s Super50 Cup to St. Kitts, promising a showcase of the Caribbean’s top female cricket talent.
The regional tournament will take place from February 24 to March 7, 2025, at three premier venues: Warner Park, Conaree Cricket Centre, and St. Paul’s Sports Complex. Matches are scheduled to begin daily at 10 a.m.
Defending champions Jamaica will aim to retain their title against tough competition from Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago Red Force, Guyana, Windward Islands, and hosts Leeward Islands. This year’s tournament serves as crucial preparation ahead of a busy international calendar for the West Indies Women’s team, following their dominant ODI and T20I series victories against Bangladesh in St. Kitts last month.
CWI Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming tournament:
“We at Cricket West Indies are thrilled are to kick off this year’s CG United Women’s Super 50.”
“
This tournament isn’t just a competition but a celebration of the incredible strides we’ve made in women’s cricket across the Caribbean. We are seeing phenomenal talent emerging from every corner of the region and watching these players battle it out on the field is going to be something special.”
“
With our international tours on the horizon and the impending ODI World Cup coming up, the timing couldn’t be better to showcase the strength of West Indies women’s cricket. We are particularly excited for cricket fans in St. Kitts to see once again, some of our rising stars in action as the future of women’s cricket in the Caribbean looks brighter than ever.”
Last year’s tournament highlighted the depth of women’s cricket in the region despite rain-affected matches. Jamaica opened with a commanding 204-run victory over Barbados, led by Stafanie Taylor’s 99-run innings. Guyana emerged as serious contenders, with Ashmini Munisar delivering standout bowling figures of 5/15 against Trinidad and Tobago.
The Windward Islands added excitement with a thrilling two-wicket win over Trinidad and Tobago, thanks to Jannillea Glasgow’s crucial 62-run innings. Other notable performances included Chinelle Henry’s 6/31 for Jamaica, Kycia Knight’s three half-centuries for Barbados, and Shemaine Campbelle’s explosive batting for Guyana.
Cricket enthusiasts can catch the action live. Matches at Conaree and St. Paul’s will be streamed on the Windies Cricket YouTube channel, while Warner Park fixtures will be broadcast on ESPN Caribbean for regional viewers. Additionally, ball-by-ball coverage will be available on the Windies Cricket live match centre at www.windiescricket.com.
