Senior Counsel Andrew Pilgrim has described as “an absolute disgrace” this week’s police digital bulletin Wanted Mondays which featured his client, Cultural Ambassador The Most Honourable Anthony Mighty Gabby Carter, who was charged last week with rape.
Wanted Mondays is the police social media advertising tool which post bulletins on people wanted in connection mainly with serious crimes and when they eventually end up in custody.
It utilises popular music, graphic and images of the suspects in a sometimes satirical way.
However, on Monday night the Wanted Monday video featured the Mighty Gabby who was never on the wanted list and who had appeared in court three days earlier. The video had several images of the 72-year-old popping across the screen with the word “charged” plastered across the image and at one point had him being handcuffed by a cop.
While many Barbadians found the video’s graphics amusing some questioned the rationale with many commenting that the police had gone too far and were out to ridicule him.

Shortly after queries from this newspaper to Attorney General, Dale Marshall and Commissioner of Police, Richard Boyce, the video was removed.
