Police are investigating a shooting that took place this morning at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, following an altercation stemming from a road rage incident.

At approximately 8:22 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025, police responded to a report of a shooting near the location. Upon arrival, officers found two men with injuries to their bodies.

Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene and transported both men to the hospital, where they are said to be in critical but stable condition.

Inspector (Ag) Ryan Brathwaite of the Barbados Police Service provided an update on the incident, confirming that preliminary investigations indicate the situation began on Upton Road. It escalated when the rider of a bicycle confronted the driver of a bus, leading to a verbal exchange that turned physical. The bicycle rider allegedly attacked the bus driver, who in response discharged his licensed firearm, injuring the other individual in the process.

The police have assured the public that no students from the nearby area were involved. Investigations are still ongoing.
